“Down the Road”

“Down the Road”

Senior year is quickly coming to an end

Prom and graduation are right around the bend

Before I know it, I will be well on my way

To a new beginning, at a school far away

Going to school at Ole Miss will be both thrilling and frightening

To be so far away and know no one is not really heightening

My spirits of how well this new journey will go

But then I think of the opportunities and how I will grow

My future is unknown with where this new adventure will take me

But I’m sure where ever it is, there will grow a tree

A tree whose roots that will become bigger and stronger

With each connection that keeps me there longer

A new school, friends and additional family

Will mature and age this growing tree

One that will be made up of

A tree filled with life and rooted with love.

“Senior Service Nightmare”

“Senior Service Nightmare”

All seniors get the privilege of leaving school in May

But you must be a good student and have at least a 3.5 GPA

Senior service gets you exempt from all finals and work for the rest of the year

But what will I do? Has become the question I fear

I want to go into criminal justice after school

So helping at the police department would be cool

I asked Officer Wilde but he said because of liability

They could not have me and this crushed my felicity

Back to square one I thought of the fire department to volunteer

But what hours I could work was unclear

So I called the chief to talk about a meeting

But they hours he gave me were not worth completing

Now senior service is less than a week away

Finding a new place to volunteer is something I cannot delay

So I went to talk to Mrs. Harle about a different place

She recommended the nursing home in town, which brought a smile to my face

This is in town and close by

And is also something I would love to try

Now the stress is gone since I’ve found something new

I am beyond excited to start and now that my searching is through.
